Wasabi Toys, Greenhills Shopping Center

 By Gerard Marcilla

           Wasabi Toys. A collector's paradise.

Are you one of those who are not yet done buying gifts even though Christmas Day is drawing near? Then look no further, we, le Shop Busters, are here to help. Today, we are featuring one of the most well-known specialty stores amongst hobbyists: “Wasabi Toys”.

Wasabi Toys has been around for 7 years and it has engraved its mark on its fans. Situated at Blue Lane, 3rd Floor Shoppesville, Greenhills, it features Japanese collectible items, model kits, and other pop culture items that are rarely found in stores in the country. Don’t be fooled by its name though, although it says Wasabi Toys, this store isn’t exactly for kids. Most of the items sold here cater to teenagers and above who are fond                of Japanese anime and video games.

According to Ms. Christina Rubino, sales representative for Wasabi Toys, their best-selling items are model kits, commonly Gundam Plastics a.k.a. GunPlas with prices usually ranging from P1,000 to P15,000. Ms. Rubino told us that what set Wasabi Toys apart from other stores are its well-organized shop, fully-functional website, and it’s relatively cheaper, up-to-date items. Nevermind the mind-boggling P15,000 because apparently, that’s cheap already for such a premium quality item so take that into account when you’re shopping for your model kit enthusiast friend.

If you haven’t gotten the clue yet, the clerks and assistants inside the shop are very friendly and approachable. Luckily for us, there are two ways of knowing whether Wasabi Toys has the item you are looking for. One is to go directly to their retail store and ask the assistants if they have one. Or if you’re feeling shy, you can just look for it yourself since unlike other hobby shops, Wasabi Toys is neat and organized. Even if the store is quite small, you can easily make your way through it without worrying that you might break something extremely valuable. The second way is to go to their site, and check whether it’s available or out of stock. See, no hassle at all!
